Laser eye surgery in the UK

Laser eye surgery has become extremely popular in the UK, with over 10,000 treatments performed every week. If you are thinking of getting laser eye surgery it is important that you know what to expect.

It is important that you find a surgeon who is experienced.
A surgeons complication rate will be much higher at the begining of their career.

PRK, the older type of laser surgery is becoming less common, but it is still just as effective as LASIK for low prescriptions, and avoids any potential complications with the flap. A newer version of PRK, called LASEK is now being performed.

If you have a high prescription, there's a chance you'll need a second 'top-up' surgery.

Treatment for long-sight, whilst effective for low prescriptions have a considerably longer recovery time than for treatment short-sight.
